I was out in the desert for awhile

When I was out on the desert, ya know
I don't know how to tell you
but, ah, I killed somebody
It's no big deal, ya know
I don't think anybody will find out about it, but...
just, ah...

We went on this drive
46 miles of unpaved road..,
We walked up into a box canyon
then, it..ah...just ended
We found a cave under a cliff
and desert wildflowers and strange stunted trees
we walked a mile into, like, a slot canyon
I walked out alone
Some of the mesas looked like, ah...
Variegated confectionaries
and, ah...
It's just that...
I'm worried that, ah...
somebody might find the body

I have learned that there are only two things to worry about out here in the desert.
ReplyDeleteThe first thing is human witches (also known as skinwalkers or shape-shifters).
The other thing is chindi. These are spirits released from people at the moment of their death. Usually these are malignant forces that manifest themselves as whirlwinds. The clockwise whirlwinds are benign and the conter-clockwise ones are evil.
You can get Ghost Sickness from a chindi so never throw rocks at a whirlwind or call them by name.
