Repositioning Cruise

The first leg of our Spring trip is a cruise from Florida to Spain. It's probably as much fun to plan the travel as to do it.  I've accumulated a hoard of European GPS micro sims and city maps. Looking for a universal phone service like Truphone and translator apps for the smartphone...

The wireless on ship is the pits...not posting until probably April 20th...crap..we had better bandwidth on the Mekong in Cambodia.

April 6...Port Everglades is approximately 2 miles from Fort Lauderdale International Airport . ...The  New Amsterdam sails on the 6th and docks in Barcelona on Easter morning...April 20th.

April 13 ...Horta belongs to Portugal. The Museo Regional de Horta Looks interesting in the city, near the docks. Hiking the Caldera would be a good adventure if we can catch the weather right. It's about two miles around the rim after a taxi ride to the top.

April 16th... Gibraltar (currently British)  is a place we've been before. Last time we saw lots of monkeys....

April 17...Motril is in Spain. From Motril we will take taxi 5 miles west to the little coastal town of Salobreña. The town is built on a steep hill and there are fantastic views from the top - with plenty of authentic Tapas bars to stop off at on the way. The beach is nothing special but the town is said to be charming and has  a magnificent distant backdrop of snow covered Sierra Nevada mountains. I think a day trip to the Alhambra is also available, but we've been there...

April 18...Alicante has a barrio to visit. I'm interested in a two hour gourmet walking tour that leaves at 11:30 am.  It's only 8 euros a person and looks like it might be interesting.

April 19... in Palma de Mallorca we will take a train that runs on a scenic route seven times a day. The ride id an hour and 30 minutes each way and costs 9 euros. It's called the Tren de Soller. We should try to catch the 10:10 or 10:50 train to Soller....the 12:15 would be cutting it too close to sailing at 5:00 PM....

April 20...Barcelona..this is another story....
