The Cowpies Hike

Sedona, Arizona

The Cowpies are 2.7 miles up a very rough and rocky road. We crawl along in 1st gear banging the Toyota oil pan on big rocks to get to the trail head.

Along the way we lose another hubcap. It's the third one in two weeks, but the last two were found from other Toyotas along the Arizona roadside by my gimlet-eyed brother-in-law. I have one spare left in the RV basement. Apparently Toyota doesn't do recalls for badly designed hubcaps. They want $125 for a hubcap but I can get them online for $12.50.

The Sedona public library was having it's annual book sale. I got a pile of books for $23.

A cowpie is what the cows leave behind in the field. As you hike up to the reddish-brown rounded rock formations, you can see where they got the name.

The views around Sedona are beautiful. I think we are leaving in the morning. Destination presently unknown.
