The Women's RV Forum GTG

Hillsborough River State Park, Florida

Mrs. Phred wanted to attend a get together (GTG) of women who discuss camping, gas mileage, black water odors and other mysteries on a social media URL called the Women's RV Forum.

The old Women's RV Forum was run by a man who ticked off the women. They all jumped ship and set up their own forum, which just goes to show....

There is a lovely 3.5 mile hiking trail here that runs along the river. It's called the "Florida Trail". Sometimes you can see gators here but thy're not as thick as at Myakka. They also rent bicycles and canoes and have a snack bar and big swimming pool.

The first night I cook up a big pot of chicken thighs and yellow rice for the potluck. I add onions and garlic salt for taste and green peas and pimentos for aesthetic value.

On night two I make a gigantic lasagna with hamburger, Italian sausage, ricotta cheese, sauteed onions, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese and other good spices. On night three Mrs. Phred bakes cookies for dessert....talk about comfort food.... I weighed in two pounds heavier this morning than when I arrived...

These are the knees of cypress trees on the "Florida Trail".

There are lots of women here for the GTG. Some of them drag along a useless appendage such as myself...

There goes Mrs. Phred down the trail.

We'll be heading back to Sarasota today. It's 80 miles further south. A bitter cold front swept though yesterday and it only got up to 65 F during the day....

Tampa 2013 RV show

Mrs. Phred wanted to see the 2013 RV show in Tampa.

Parking was $6 and another $20 for admission. There were lots of new RVs on display and a few oldies.

We found a universal TV mount that bolts to the wall and hinges out to accommodate virtually any size TV. We bought that and upgraded our front TV to 32 inches.

This 1924 Model T. has a bed in the back and a kitchen ....

Some of these things are works of art and cost as much as a couple of million each.

They're tending to put RVs on big truck frames and then retailing the package for about 750k.

Pretty....

Maybe next year....You can still get a very nice new RV for 100K ...if you shop around...not this one though...

Horse Spit and Pink Elephants

new music player that holds way more albums and shuffles the songs randomly.

This horse works up a tremendous amount of green saliva while munching apples. It comes out in a stream.

Sometimes I like to do the walk at night. I have a bright light to wear on my head. I call it a headlight. This is a cell phone picture of the full moon on a partly cloudy night.

Think fast...we're changing locations from a dark country road to sunny Bangkok...I love that place. I could live there and try to figure out the politics of the red shirts and the yellow shirts.  Watch out for the black shirts. They kill people.

Grilled Rainbow Trout

Rainbow Trout
Lemon Pepper
Garlic Powder
Everglades Seasoning
Butter
Lemon wedge

Cut a piece of foil big enough for a packet. Put fish on foil and sprinkle inside and outside of fish with all seasonings. Add 3 pats of butter, one on the inside of the fish and two on the outside. Roll foil packets up and seal well.

Place on preheated grill (about 400 degrees) and cook on each side for 8-10 minutes.

This should be good tonight with wild rice and steamed Asian vegetables from a big package I bought at Sam's club?

Cousin K sent me some pretty birds.....

I've been counting calories and walking five miles each morning. I've lost 13 pounds, but I want to lose 51 by April 14th. I find that I weigh 1.6 pound less after walking then before. I can't stand not to walk any more because it messes up my measurements..

On my walks there are two old horses that eat an apple or orange out of my hand. They are very gentle and never bite me.

I can put 4 gigs of music on my thumb drive for the walks. I have "Tommy" by the Who, "Sticky Fingers" by the Rolling Stones, Leonard Cohen, two Pink Floyd Albums, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Janis Joplin,  Quicksilver Messenger Service and Credence Clearwater turned way up on my 1.5 hour walk every morning...

When I drink, I add three pounds, just like that....but when I'm good I'm moving in the right direction every day...the trick is in the calories....I have a little scale to weigh my food....
